Rounds in Flexible Space at Spaces gallery in Cleveland, Ohio, February 2000. Performance still images are from an action that occurred on February 25, 2000, Duration: 2 hours. A network of rubber bands that would expand and contract with the movement of the body as it extended out from the wood columns facilitated this performance. During the performance, the body was continuously spinning in circles while pushing out around the perimeter of the rubber band structure. Simultaneously, the performer was humming the tune “Row, Row, Row, Your Boat” in rounds. When not in use, the rubber band structure was taught around the two wooden columns and suspended from a cable near the ceiling.
