Load & Effort is an ongoing collaborative project between Alison Crocetta and Peter Reese. We make durational works that stem from our desire to perform endurance actions that can only be realized by two performers who operate in tandem but may never touch. On and On, our contribution to Rapid Pulse 2017, was a new durational performance that celebrated the economy of simple machines while making a case for relative stillness within performance practice. In this action, we were both turning the center wheel of a human-sized Lazy Susan so that we could spin continuously while singing "The Song That Never Ends." This work also explored the possibility that our sounding bodies could reiterate the content of our project and expand the performance by shifting the sonic experience of a space.
